This is me, in a requisite mirror selfie with an old camera.
My passion for photography came from my father, who taught me to make photos and even do a little darkroom work when I was young. I started in the age of film, shifted to digital, and now kind of shoot any format and file type. In my day job, I'm a filmmaker, and digital is the reality.
For my own pleasure and the "art" of it, I prefer analog film using old cameras. The camera in this image was my grandfather's. I still have many of his and my father's gear and I'm keeping it working as much as possible.
Shooting analog helps me to balance my otherwise pretty digital life. I believe in physicality and the inherent value and beauty of the real world. I love the idea of photons of light striking a mix of chemicals on a physical medium, making an image we can enjoy.
I told myself I never want this to become my career, for fear it might spoil the experience. And probably my ego would play too much a part.
Here, I hope you enjoy some images. And I love to enjoy images made by others. That's it.
